*I originally posted this on my blog, but I have a few updates on preparation and how it makes me feel!
I've always tried to get into oatmeal everyday.
I could just never get into it though.
Something about it just wasn't sitting right.
Too mushy, too sweet, too bland... you name it, I used that excuse not to eat it!

I read about Muesli the other day in a silly {yet tasty} article on how to eat like Prince William and Princess Catherine. I decided to give it a try when I saw it in the store the other day. I'm hooked!
Muesli (pronounced muze-ly, kinda like loosely) is a mixture of rolled oats, dried fruit and seeds/nuts. I bought this brand, which has sun flower seeds, raisins, almond slices, and barley.
I cooked 1/2 cup of muesli with 1/2 cup of milk for about 3 minutes once brought to a boil. I also added 2 pinches cinnamon, a few dried cherries, dried diced mango, and a few pecan pieces.
These are photos of my hot Muesli but lately I've been eating it cold. It takes a bit longer to prepare because you have to soak it in the milk for a bit. Place 1/2 cup muesli in a bowl and add enough milk so that the oats are covered. Place in fridge for 15 minutes or even overnight. The longer you soak, the silkier the consistency. The longest I've soaked the cereal has been an hour. I add any extras (like the pecans and dried fruit right before eating so that there is more crunch!)
How it makes me feel? FULL! I am full until lunch time (about 1pm) when I eat this around 7am or 9am. If I eat it an hour before a workout, my energy is through the roof. Sometimes I exercise too early in the am though and can't stomach or have the time to eat anything. Muesli is like a nice cross between oatmeal and granola. It's very hard to find healthy granola so this one is a keeper!
Thanks, Princess Catherine!
Will I look like you if I eat this for a while?
