To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: ...; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace. ~Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

R and R Tip #62: Peaceful relaxation requires restful silence.

We live in a world obsessed with noise, speed, and activity and effects are so gradual that we hardly notice them from day to day, but over time they are dramatic, even devastating. When I get in one of my overwhelmed, struggling modes, the first thing I will give up is exercise and my centering or meditation practice. There just isn’t time! What a copout. I am the one in charge of MY schedule.

Many women pray, some exercise and some meditate to achieve this goal. Whatever they do, each of these women has found sanctuary in their silence. It takes discipline to keep your life in balance. You must be disciplined to spend quality time and take care of your health. You should even discipline yourself to REST and have fun. Examine your life today, and do what is needed to bring balance to the way you use your time.

True silence is the rest of the mind; it is to the spirit
what sleep is to the body, nourishment and refreshment
William Penn

You simply let go of the tightness in your body and the chatter in your head. Give yourself the gift of time. Try Silence. Sit quietly or relax for a few minutes everyday. Quiet time spent like this each and every day will do amazing things for your heart, your spirit and your peace of mind. With silence like this you’re able to relax your mind and body. Take some time to have no purpose but to be with yourself.

The more I have to do, the longer I need to meditate.

Ghandi

Our bodies, hearts, minds and spirits all need time to refocus and recharge. Let the silence soothe your spirit. Get a sense of the silent rhythm of life.. Be still and know the restorative power of silence

That is what my Sunday posts are all about. R and R. Relaxation, rest, recharging, restoring and refreshing yourself so that you can be the best that you can be.

Allow yourself some time for pure, undiluted pleasure. Let go of all the things that pull you back. Imagine yourself to be a gull in the salty breeze above the peaceful sea. Meditate, read, write, sing or paint – do your own thing.

See you all next week!

Love, Live, Laugh and Be Happy!
