R and R Tip #33: Recount your blessings

When you feel stressed out, burned out and maxed out, it’s natural to conclude that life is hard. Wait a minute! Take a step back and reflect. Think of all the things that you are thankful for. You have your health, your family and all those little things you normally take for granted. Take time to regain your inner strength.

Watch a sunset, listen to good music or delve into an engrossing book. Allow yourself time to reflect on the gifts you have been given.We can put things back in perspective and regain a sense of serenity.

Whenever I’ve been in a slump, I’ve discovered that it’s often because I have too much going on in my life. I’m trying to do too much. And it saps my energy and motivation. I know then that it is time to stop and count my many blessings. Taking time to reflect on the good in our lives is one way to renew our energy and refresh our strength for whatever comes into our lives each day.

Rest in your many blessings and you will be refreshed, renewed and relaxed.
